So as the semester draws to a close, we've been asked to evaluate the usage of Blogs this semester. There is no doubt that this has been a unique medium for for assignments.
To evaluate the blogging experience, here is my response to the Professor's intended goals:
1. Did you feel you benefited from meeting others online, which also extended to communicating in class?
I definitely did enjoy this kind of interaction with students through the blog. I think that given the huge size and diversity of Baruch (and the classrooms) it is often difficult to really communicate that much with other students. I found it really interesting to see such a deep insight into these different topics from all the different students in the class. It also helped personalize a relatively large class, which may have been difficult without these blogs.
2. Did the blog effectively get you to think about and share your perceptions about what we did in class?
The blog assignments did help me think about my perceptions of the class activities, but more so, i found it really helpful to read other people's perceptions of the activities, and seeing how the various students who carried out the activities differently, could relate it to different aspects of the material.
3. Did you feel there was enough of this kind of outside reading to do via the blog?
I think a few more readings, maybe ones where we could read about the material in action in real management situations in the business world would have helped, as opposed to only seeing how the material played in with out personal lives and class activities.
4. Did you clearly understand the degree to which your test anxieties could be offset by appropriate attention to your blog?
I definitely understood and (greatly) appreciated the confidence i could have in this easy 20%, but this was offset by exams which i felt confused and overwhelmed by. Though 20% is a good start, i have yet to see how this will balance out what i've felt was a very poor performance on my exams.
5. Do you plan on continuing to post your thoughts or ideas about school, work, career, life on your blog after this class has ended?
I haven't really thought about that. i have actually kept a blog since i was 15, but rarely write in it anymore. I feel like it is usually personal experiences that make me think and write about certain topics, and when those experiences are quite personal, it may be awkward to write about it publicly. Also, there is the question of audience. I feel like I would either want this blog to be private, so i could write anything i wanted, OR have it be public, in which case i'd feel like writing without an audience is pointless. I guess i will have to see...

I like your idea about more readings relating to the real business world. I think it would have been interesting if we had articles from the Wall Street Journal or Financial Times that discussed how top management is handling their organizations, especially in this economy.
